A Back to School Message from Dr. King, NYS Education Commissioner

Last week Dr. John King, New York State Education Commissioner left a back to school message on the newly created EngageNY website. We invite you to watch Dr. King’s Back to School message and share your thoughts.

Dr. King’s message focuses on the following themes:

  • Educational Change
  • What and how we learn
  • How New York State teachers will put CCLS into practice
  • Use of Data-Driven Instruction

EngageNY is an evolving, collaborative platform for educators. As the Regents Reform Agenda moves forward across the state, we want you to be able to access and share resources that work for you.

One Response to A Back to School Message from Dr. King, NYS Education Commissioner

Wow! There is a lot for teachers to do, as always. I hope that teachers embrace the idea of continual teacher evaluation and improvement. It can be hard to admit that one needs improvement or assistance. But in the long run, the teacher and students will benefit.
I also hope that schools increase the opportunities for students to learn skills that will make them “career ready”. College isn’t always the right path for everyone.
