Co-teaching is based on the collaboration between educators who share instructional responsibility for a group of students. In this arrangement, educators support instruction in a variety of ways and with a variety of tools and resources. Edmodo supports the co-teaching approach by providing the ability for two teachers to manage a group.
If you don’t already have an account in Edmodo, start by going to the Edmodo website, choose “I’m a Teacher” and create your account information – both you and your co-teacher(s) should have an account in Edmodo.
On the left side of the window, look for “Groups” and click on “Create.” Enter the required information and click on Create. You’ll be given a group code which you can copy to share with your co-teacher.
To add a co-teacher:
- Invite the co-teacher to join the group, with the group code.
- Once the co-teacher has joined, select the group, go to the “Members” link at the top.
- Select the co-teachers name. On the right panel, select the access drop down arrow and pick co-teacher from the menu.
Now your co-teacher will be able to help grade assignments, monitor discussions, and manage members. The only things that a co-teacher cannot do are: archive or delete groups, upgrade other teachers to co-teachers or remove the group’s creator from the group.
