On March 5, 2013, PARCC announced the release of new planning tools for their impending 2014-2015 technology-based assessments. PARCC announced it would also provide educators with guidance concerning the new exam design, as well as best practices for preparing for, and administering the assessments.
One of the tools featured in the announcement was the Capacity Planning Tool. This tool will act as a budgeting calculator for schools looking to invest in new technologies and solutions. PARCC also released a vast number of interactive prototypes that demonstrate the variety of question styles featured in the coming assessments. Prototypes are available for a variety of grade and skill levels, and can be easily download off of PARCC’s website.
PARCC also announced the release of a new Assessment Administration Guidance packet, created to help implement the best testing practices possible. The guide includes information concerning the ELA and Math assessments, recommended testing environment guidelines, and a new tool that will help schools determine the amount of technology necessary to efficiently administer the computer-based tests for the 2014-2015 school year.
PARCC stated that they plan to release more information in the coming months, to help administrations better prepare for these student assessments.
