This lesson allows students to connect prior knowledge of the immigration unit to new information about the economic systems, which forced immigrants out of their homes, and caused the search for a new beginning here in America.  Students explore key differences in common vocabulary associated with the unit, and demonstrate their understanding of a major era in New York’s history.
