As part of the 800 series, the 800i represents a new class of interactive whiteboard. The 800i features touch gesture and multitouch capabilities that enable true collaboration and make lessons more engaging.

The 800i is an integrated system featuring a powerful interactive whiteboard and a multiuser Pen Tray that enables users to work together instantly. The system also includes the SMART UF65 projector, which reduces distracting shadows and glare, and an extended control panel, which allows you to easily manage the system and your classroom technology.

Freedom to collaborate

The 800i makes working together a flexible and intuitive experience. The system's multitouch capabilities enable two people to use a finger or a pen to interact simultaneously on the interactive whiteboard surface to write, draw and manipulate lesson content in SMART Notebook collaborative learning software. Each user is free to interact with content the way they want, anywhere on the interactive whiteboard. The system doesn't require a separate multiuser mode, so teachers and students can start working together quickly.

The 800i uses DViT (Digital Vision Touch) technology to identify when a user switches between a finger, pen and eraser. A user can also write with a pen, erase with a palm and move objects with a finger, without having to press buttons, access on-screen menus or replace tools in the Pen Tray.

Multitouch experience

SMART Notebook software

SMART Notebook sets the standard for creating, delivering and managing interactive lessons within a single application. It puts all your instructional materials at your fingertips, and allows you to save any notes or content you write during the lesson to share with students later on. A powerful and easy-to-use application, SMART Notebook software enables you to readily deliver interactive lessons that keep your students engaged and interested.

Multiuser Pen Tray

Pick up one of the pens or the eraser and the Pen Tray automatically detects which tool you’ve selected. Buttons on the Pen Tray select the color and activate the On-Screen Keyboard, right-click and help functions.

Modular design

The Pen Tray includes two wings on the side that allow you to add accessories, such as SMART projector controls.

Lockable pen option

Hold down a pen color button on the Pen Tray until the light flashes, and the lockable pen option will lock the interactive whiteboard into pen mode, so you can use any device and it will act as a pen. Early education students and students with special needs can use objects, such as tennis balls, to write on the surface.

SMART Ink

Discover a responsive and accurate writing experience with SMART Ink. It smoothes out the appearance of the digital ink, which improves the legibility of your handwriting as you write over applications, websites and videos. The ink becomes an object that you can move and manipulate.

Save function

Capture your work to SMART Notebook collaborative learning software as a screen shot that you can edit, or save your notes directly into several software applications, including Microsoft Windows versions of PowerPoint, Word and Excel, Adobe Acrobat and AutoCAD software.

Durable surface

The 800i has a low-gloss surface that is optimized for projection. The surface is compatible with dry-erase markers and is easily cleaned.

Quick start

With the 800i, your computer, projector and SMART Board interactive whiteboard are all connected, so you can turn the entire system on and off quickly with the push of a single button – everything powers up in under 60 seconds.

Front-of-room centralized control

Switch between all your audiovisual devices directly from the extended control panel. The panel provides centralized control of your classroom technology, including DVD players, digital cameras and document cameras. You can move from a website to a video documentary to a review question quickly and seamlessly. The extended control panel also has a dual-USB port that enables you to connect two computers to the SMART Board interactive whiteboard and easily switch between them as required.

Widescreen option

Enjoy more room to work. The wide-format 885i model gives you 20% more working space than a standard interactive whiteboard – ideal for classrooms that use widescreen laptops and monitors. The widescreen option combines the SMART Board 885 interactive whiteboard with the SMART UF65w projector, which delivers a 16:10 aspect ratio and native WXGA (1280 x 800) widescreen resolution.

3D-ready

Demonstrate complex spatial concepts using third-party 3D content. The short-throw SMART UF65 projector is 3D-ready, accurately displaying 3D content to students wearing 3D glasses.

Shadow reduction

Reduce shadows and distractions with the SMART UF65 projector. Because this boom-mounted, short-throw projector is located directly above the SMART Board interactive whiteboard, it creates fewer shadows behind the user, improving the visibility of images, videos and notes.

Alert broadcast system

Receive important messages instantly. Principals and other administrators can display alert messages on multiple 800i systems at the same time.

Image quality

Experience high levels of brightness and contrast with the SMART UF65 projector. The SMART UF65 delivers 2,000 lumens and a 2,000:1 contrast ratio at a XGA (1040 x 768) resolution. The projector is designed to draw less than 1W of power in standby mode. The filter-free design of the SMART UF65 projector eliminates the need for filter cleaning or replacement.

Network-enabled projector

Connect the SMART UF65 projector to your school's network to remotely control and manage it through the web server or SNMP client. As a networked interactive whiteboard system, the 800i's asset management features enable you to control and manage the projector remotely.

Long-lasting lamp

The 800i projector bulb lasts for 3,000 hours in standard mode and 5,000 hours in economy mode. And because the projector is network enabled, you will receive e-mail alerts for temperature warnings or when lamp life is running low.

Option to add sound

Add SMART Audio classroom amplification system or USB speakers to turn the 800i into a complete multimedia center.

Theft resistant

Feel secure with your technology investment – the protection features of the 800i make it a less attractive target for thieves. The projector head, boom and base are all attached, and because the SMART UF65 projector has no buttons, it is rendered inoperable if removed from the extended control panel. The Kensington cable lock slot and padlock loop are additional visual and physical theft deterrents.

Warranty

Get a three-year warranty on the SMART UF65 projector. The SMART Board interactive whiteboard has a two-year warranty, which is extended to five years upon product registration.
