New Options for Creating Google Meets

Google has streamlined the process for scheduling future meetings straight via Google Meet. We now have more options for scheduling our meetings and sending meeting invitations straight from meet.google.com. These new options are currently being released on a rolling basis, and should be available to all soon.

Let’s take a look at how these new options work

With the new Google Meet options, when we click on the “New Meeting” button, there will be three choices:

  • Create a meeting for later
  • Start an instant meeting
  • Schedule in Google Calendar

The first option, to create a meeting for later, will generate a meeting link and joining information that you can set up and save for later. This is more streamlined than how it was originally, and will allow you to share out a link with meeting participants for a time in the future.

The second option — to start an instant meeting — is the one you’re familiar with. Choose this option to create a new Meet link to use immediately.

The third option is to schedule a Meet via Google Calendar. When you choose this option, Google Calendar will open up in a new tab with the Meet conferencing details already populated for you.

Thanks to these new Meet options, users will have some great new ways to add flexibility as they use Google Meet.
