Classroom Management with Class Dojo

Looking for a successful classroom management strategy? In order to achieve this, it is important to have a well-developed plan in place and a clear communication with students about this plan. Behavior charts are a popular way for students to see their progress with specific goals in mind. Well, why not make those behavior charts digital, share them with parents, and give students the ability to view and track their progress any time. Class Dojo is a fun way to make this possible!
Previously featured in Part 2 of our Gamification Series, Class Dojo can be accessed from the web or with a free app on your iOS or Android device. Log in and create a class with your students to get started. Then, you are ready to reward students and provide feedback on classroom behavior.
Class Dojo provides you with a number of behaviors that can be rewarded as positive feedback with set point values. There are also some behaviors that need work, which will cause students to lose points earned. One of my favorite options is that teachers can also add in their own behaviors, if options they need are not currently available. This allows you to customize the experience for individual class strengths and weaknesses.

Class Dojo also enhances communication about classroom behavior, making it easy to invite parents and send reports on student and class progress. With a parent’s permission, students can log in and join the class to see how many points they have earned. Allowing this to be an experience that teacher, parent, and student can all take part in helps guarantee that communication is clear and everyone is on the same page with individual behavior goals.
You also have the option to add additional teachers to a classroom account. This allows student behavior to be monitored, even when they are outside of your classroom. Perhaps your behavior management plan involves rewarding the class for individual or whole-class points earned throughout a given time period. Class Dojo makes this process simple, allowing you to run reports about point earnings over time.
