Let your voice be seen in Google Slides!
Within the last few weeks, Google has pushed out a new feature into their apps without much fanfare. And this new one is a cool one: live closed captioning in Google Slides. Closed captioning is the ability to have text appear from the spoken word to assist viewers with hearing concerns.
How to enable closed captioning in Google Slides
To enable this feature in Google Slides, follow these simple steps:
1. If your presentation is complete, start the presentation by clicking “Present”.

2. During the presentation, hover the mouse over the lower left corner of the presentation. The toolbar will appear, and you can now click on the “CC,” or closed caption, button.

3. That’s it! While the presentation is running and while the microphone is receiving signals, the spoken word will be transliterated onto the presentation.
This is a great usability feature that’s useful in numerous situations, like when you’re presenting for a large audience, when loud projection of voice would be difficult, or when there are audience members with hearing concerns. Give it a try and see how it can benefit your presentation!
Right now this feature is available in English only, and it’s still in Beta mode, which means there might be some hiccups as Google works to perfect this great new feature.
