colorful DIY spring bunny banner craft

1. Hop into spring: DIY Bunny Banner

Ready to leap into warmer weather? Learn how to make a colorful bunny banner for your class! For this project, you can use materials that are readily available in your classroom such as Cardstock, a fine-point blade, a hot glue gun, ribbons, and pom-poms.

  • Trace and cut out a bunny shape or use your trusted Cricut cutting machine and Design Space for available bunny templates.
  • For extra personalization, go into Design Space and add a decal of each student’s name to your cutout. Your class can also assist you with attaching the decals created by your Cricut.
  • Once your template is customized, trace small circles on each bunny ear. This can be hole-punched by students or done through Cricut’s Design Space before printing out their bunny.
  • Either let Cricut cut out your template or finish it the old-school way, then have older students hot glue pom-poms to the back.
  • Run a ribbon through the holes in the ears and hang up your banner to brighten up your classroom. This project is the perfect idea for spring class decor!

Create a home for feathered friends!

Colorful DIY spring themed Paper Birdhouse made with Cricut

2. Spring Paper Birdhouse

As it gets warmer, birds begin to flock back to their homes! Create a custom birdhouse to let students watch these feathered friends fly to your classroom window. You can even make one for your backyard!

  • For this craft, you will need green and pink Cardstock, paper, art glue, and a scraper. Create patterned walls and the roof using Cricut or draw designs yourself.
  • When using your cutting machine, click the “Heavy Cardstock” setting to print out the roof to your birdhouse. Once your creation is designed, press down with the scraper to ensure the walls are nice and crisp.
  • Apply the paper glue onto the front flap of the paper birdhouse and then to the other side to assemble your birdhouse.
  • If desired, you can customize a wreath made up of thin paper strips to have your new bird sanctuary feel more like home. A tip is to stagger the paper so your wreath appears more realistic.
  • Now, it’s time to attach your wreath to the house using paper glue. Let it dry and look forward to birds flocking to their new luxury birdhouse!

Make this year’s Easter egg-stravagant! These animal cutouts can make your annual egg hunt extra special. Spruce up ordinary eggs by adding fun animal decor!

  • Grab some colorful festive plastic eggs, Cardstock in various colors (pink, orange, light blue, yellow), depending on what animals you want to create, a hot glue gun, a black fine tip pen, and adhesive.
  • Trace animal shapes and cut out the Cardstock or use your Cricut machine to create the eyes, ears, mouth, nose and feet! Use adhesive to layer different colors and create dimension.
  • Use a hot glue gun to secure the parts to the plastic egg. Let your imagination run wild with unlimited options of animals to choose from!

There’s no limit to your creation! Customize your animal by creating funny faces, expressions, and features. Create an Easter egg that is uniquely yours. You can even fill your eggs with small candies (if allowed) or with words on paper to complete a spring-themed activity!

4. Paper Plate Sunflower

Spring flowers are blooming! Have your class create their own sunflower!

  • Give students a big paper plate and yellow tissue paper. Cut the tissue paper into small squares to replicate the center of the flower. Use your Cricut to assist in designing unique petals.
  • Choose your shape, color, add fun patterns, and customize your petals! Once your beautiful design is created, the petals should be stapled to the back of the paper plate.
  • Students can now decorate the center of their flower by attaching tissue paper with school-safe glue. Draw some “seeds” with black glue or craft paint. Once dry, your new creation is ready to bloom!
