Using a Document Camera with Your SMART iQ Experience

Document cameras are an essential and very commonly used tool for educators in the classroom. The ability to easily project or display something physical (like a piece of paper, book, artifact, or any manipulative) to a large screen display for the entire class allows a teacher to easily show, model, and explore items with students in the classroom. There are many different types of document cameras, but regardless of what you use, pairing a document camera and your SMART iQ Experience allows for the flexibility of displaying any object in the classroom while integrating the built-in annotation or digital ink tools on your SMART Interactive Display.
The SMART iQ Experience allows you to use your SMART Interactive Flat Panel (6000, 7000 & MX series) without a computer attached. The iQ has a variety of built-in features such as white-boarding, displaying files, accessing a web browser, screen sharing other devices, installing android applications, and much more.
Watch the video below to learn how to connect your document camera with your SMART iQ without a computer.
Key points from the video:
- Add the Camera App from the “Apps” tab on the Home Screen
- Plug in your document camera directly using the USB
- Any document camera can be used, as long as it has a USB connection
- A web camera can also be used as a document camera
- Leverage the use of digital ink by writing with your SMART pens
- Annotations can be saved to the File Library
