Building AI literacy in classrooms with hands-on robotics and edtech tools for future-ready skills.

As AI technologies become embedded in our daily lives, educators are recognizing the importance of preparing students to interact with these tools and develop AI literacy. From voice assistants to recommendation algorithms, AI is everywhere. Understanding how these technologies work is no longer optional – it’s essential for building digital fluency, computational thinking, and future-ready skills.

In Teq’s Summer Webinar Series session on AI, Senior Product Specialist Nick Cilluffo broke down the fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence. He explained why AI literacy is critical for students and how robotics and AI can make complex concepts approachable, engaging, and fun. Additionally, the session featured two powerful EdTech solutions. UBTECH’s UGOT, a modular robotics kit designed to teach coding and AI principles, and Maker & Coder AIOT, an innovative platform that blends AI, IoT, and project-based learning. Both platforms aim to bring real-world AI applications into the classroom and prepare students for the future.

UBTECH UGOT: Modular Robotics for Hands-On AI Learning

UBTECH UGOT is a modular robotics kit designed to spark creativity and innovation in young learners. With intuitive knob-lock connectors, UGOT allows for tool-free assembly and easy reconfiguration, perfect for hands-on exploration. Powered by an advanced AI processor and camera, UGOT supports real-time computer vision tasks. These tasks include object detection, facial recognition, and lane tracking. It also features voice and gesture recognition for interactive experiences.

UGOT supports both block-based programming through its web-based platform, uCode4, and text-based programming via a web-based Python SDK for more advanced users. These platforms empower students to explore machine learning by coding the robots to recognize patterns in images, gestures, and sounds. Its curriculum aligns with national educational standards, making UGOT a powerful tool for STEM education.

Maker & Coder AIoT: Bridging AI and IoT Through Project-Based Learning

Maker & Coder AIoT takes learning a step further by merging AI with the Internet of Things (IoT). IoT is a network of interconnected devices that collect and exchange data through hands-on, project-based learning. This robotics kit includes an AI camera for object, color, and facial recognition, along with environmental sensors for real-time data collection. Students can explore data-driven decision-making and machine learning.

Maker & Coder AIoT allows students to interact with smart devices and automate tasks using multi-language coding support. The platform supports Scratch, Python, C++, and Arduino on the versatile MC 4.0 platform. This is a dynamic tool for teaching robotics, automation, and AI integration in real-world applications.
