SMART Notebook has recently updated to its latest version, 23.1! There are some amazing new features designed for higher-level teaching. SMART’s cloud platform, Lumio has become more popular but, many teachers continue to stick with what they know, which is SMART Notebook. In order to satisfy users who continue to utilize Notebook, SMART has made updates to the application. These updates provide the most immersive and engaging learning environment possible.
Plus, SMART has also improved their hardware with boards now using 4K displays. This is in line with most video, television, and streaming service standards. giving you and your students a sharper, clearer, and more immersive experience on all your Notebook files.
Engaging activities to boost student learning
Allowing students to come up to the board and actively engage with a lesson has never been more interactive! With the Notebook 23 update, you will now have instant access to new ready-made manipulatives, graphic organizers, and exit ticket activities. Manipulatives are great for to include a multisensory approach to learning. This allows you to present ideas in more than one way. Plus, you will see an increase in confidence and deeper understanding. Brand new graphic organizers have been added to help students make better decisions, focus their thoughts, and visualize patterns and relationships.
With the ready-made exit ticket activities, teachers can gain insight into student learning at the end of a lesson. With this, you can identify how to proceed, or determine if you need to go back and focus on a difficult topic.
Math made simple with visual aids
Math can sometimes be a daunting task that many students struggle with. SMART Notebook has updated and added measurement tools to be more interactive and easier to use. They have even added a Geodreieck for an even more accurate geometrical drawing.

You can drag and drop the ruler, compass, and protractor with ease. Students can come up to the board and create angles, draw straight lines, and so much more with these new tools.
These are some of the great new updates for Notebook, but if you are resistant to change, just hit the “View” tab at the top of your screen and you can switch back to Notebook 22 version. Just be mindful that this version will be eventually phased out altogether.
